Good-bye 2009

We have been trying to clean and declutter the house this week. And while doing so, I've been thinking of resolutions I could make and keep.

The keeping part is always so hard for me.

I saw this on another blog and thought I should do this as a good look back on 2009.

What did you do in 2009 that you had never done before?
I became cubmaster of the cub scout pack here in town. I never thought I would do anything like it, and am not sure that I will do it again!

Did you keep you new years resolutions and will you make any this year?
I kept a couple of them in a general sense. If I made any more than two, I can't remember them.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
YES!!! FINALLY!!!!! Abby gave birth to Henry in December. I'm an aunt!!

Did anyone close to you die?
I didn't have any relatives or friends die this year. But many of my friends did. I grieved with them, and prayed for comfort for them from our sweet Lord.

What places have you visited?
This year the Southern Baptist Convention was held in Louisville, KY. Stephen and I had never been there before, so we went and left the kids with my dad for the week. We loved it!!

What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
More patience. I found myself short on patience with my children so much this year. I know it seems like all mothers are short on patience but that doesn't make it right. I hope next year finds me more patient, sweet and kind to my children.

What date from 2009 will remain etched in your memory?
December 2, 2009! Henry's birthday

What was your biggest achievement this year?
This was the hardest year Stephen and I have faced together. We have endured more than we thought we would have to. And we did it together with the Lord. I'm pretty sure that was my biggest achievement. That instead of trying to handle things on my own and in my own way, I gave them to the Lord and let Him deal with them. And He did!

Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, I was safe and healthy this year.

What was the best thing you bought?
Some cute brown shoes at Dillards. I bought them in the summer for $5.00! And I love them!
The other thing I bought was my ticket to go to an event Beth Moore did just for minister's wives. My friend Jill and I went to Nashville for 2 days and actually got to see Beth Moore up close and personal, even speak to her! It was a wonderful weekend. I'm so glad I went!

Where did most of you money go?
Food. Groceries, and eating out. Next I would say kids shoes. Seems like I can never find $5 shoes for them!

What song will remind you of 2009?
Probably Francessa Battistelli's Free To Be Me

What do you wish you would have done more of?
Telling others of God's love and saving power.

What do you wish you would have done less of?
Crying and worrying. Neither of them made any difference in the problems I had.

What was you favorite tv program?
This year we found The Office. I love that show. I don't know why they talk to a camera at the office (maybe if I had started watching from the beginning I would know), but I love it!

What was the best book you read this year?
I have no idea. I read so many, and I know I read some great ones, but I can't single one out.

What was your favorite film of the year?
Probably because it was the only adult film I saw. (Not that kind of adult film!) The Blindside. It was great, I cried and it makes me want to adopt a little boy even more.

What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I went to the pool on my birthday this year. My children pushed me in many times, it was delightful! I went out to eat and turned 39. UGH!

What political issues stirred you the most?
There were many.

Who was the best new person you met?
I would have to list two here. One, is my friend Christy. She is a breath of fresh air for me (and a wealth of knowledge), I'm honored that she would want to hang out with someone as old as me.
Simone is my other best new person. She is spirited and lovely. I love her accent, the way she loves her family and her enthusiasm for life!

Sit in a chair and finish this list for yourselves. It was a lot of fun!

  1. That is a great list. I need to take some time to reflect on the goals I have for the new year. I know for sure I need more patience. I also want to share my faith with others and not keep it to myself.
