Happy 9th Birthday Daniel!!
Can you believe it? You are 9 years old!
When you went to bed last night, you said "eight was great, but nine is fine!" I think you are going to love being nine.
You are still so funny. You love to play jokes on people and see them laugh. I enjoy watching you plan how to make people laugh. But telling people I'm 80 isn't really funny. HA!
Third grade has been good for you. You've done well in all of your subjects. I'm proud of you!
You still enjoy cuddling up with me. I know it will soon pass, so I try to enjoy every moment. You like to help me around the house. Thanks for being so ready to help.
I'm glad God chose me to be your mom. I love you!!! Happpy Birthday Daniel!

Happy Birthday David!
You turned 9 yesterday. It's hard to believe that so much time has passed since the very first time I heard you cry, and the very first time I saw your sweet little face.
9 years old. WOW!
You are a voracious reader. You take a book everywhere you go. It doesn't matter if we are just going to the church, you still have a book with you for the two minute ride.
You are also writing your own book. I can't wait until you finish and I can read the final version.
You have a sensitive spirit and kind heart. You don't like to cuddle as much as you used to, but you are 9 afterall. I guess that just happens as you get older. Oh well, I'll be sure and snatch a cuddle from you as often as I can.
You have done great in school this year. Third grade hasn't been too tough for you. You're such a good student. You make my job easy.
I'm so glad God chose me to be your mom.
Happy Birthday Dave!!!
I love you!

One down, Two to go
Yesterday we celebrated Anna's birthday.
We celebrated from the time she got up to the time she went to bed.
It is our tradition to open presents as soon as you wake up. Anna likes to sleep late, so everyone was up and waiting and Anna was snoozing away in her bed.
Finally she woke up (because her daddy was yelling across the house, "ANNA!! WAKE UP!!" She really didn't have much of a choice.
When she came out of her room she was met with hot pink streamers hanging from her door frame(also a tradition).
She opened presents and then got to eat the breakfast of her choice.
We then put her new curtains up and her new comforter on her bed. She was excited.
Nana and Papa came in time to eat lunch with us and then she opened presents again!
All of the boys had ballgames last night so after the games, we headed to the mexican restaurant for supper and some birthday entertainment. Anna did not disappoint. When she found out that Daniel had told the waiters it was her birthday, she cried a "real" cry and insisted that they NOT sing to her or make her wear the hat. She just got the free dessert. Which really is the better deal!
We then went home and had birthday cake. Forget the fact that bedtime is 8:30 and that we didn't get home until 9:20, and birthday cake wasn't eaten until 10:00. She had a great day and enjoyed all the birthday wishes from my facebook friends, and our family.
Now, to repeat this again this weekend. Friday is D&D's party and Saturday is their actual birthday. Then, I can concentrate on Disney!

Its great to be eight!
picture from summer of 2007
But I promise not to go over them with you now. Just suffice it to say that Dillards does not sell socks anywhere near where they sell shoes. So if you are a pregnant woman on your way to the hospital to deliver your twin babies. And you need a pair of socks, because the thought of no socks in the hospital makes you cringe, and because you didn't know you were going to the hospital when you left home for your doctors appointment. Then don't park by the shoe department thinking that the socks would be nearby. You know, thinking that socks and shoes naturally go together. Because Dillards sells socks on the direct opposite side of the store from the shoes. And you might think that you feel fine and being dilated to a 4 (sorry guys!) isn't a big deal. Let me assure you that it is a big deal. You WILL BE out of breath and barely able to make it out of the store. Much less able to drive yourself to the hospital and walk the mile from the parking garage to the OB floor. So, remember that socks and shoes are not sold together!(Note to Dillards: could you maybe sell SOME socks in the shoe department?)
I can remember how my mom sounded on the phone when she realized she wasn't going to be with me for the birth of the twins.
I can remember how they sounded when they cried for the first time. They sounded like kittens, it was so sweet.
I can remember holding them both for the first time. And thinking that two babies at one time had to be the greatest gift God could ever give a person.
I also remember wondering how in the world we were going to tell these boys apart. They looked just alike!
That day brought chaos, excitement, joy, peace, and contentment. It was a wonderful day. And I'm glad that I get to celebrate all of that again today.
Happy Birthday David!
Happy Birthday Daniel!
I am so glad to be your mom!
I can't believe that David and Daniel are 8 years old today.
I know all mothers say that. But really. Where has the time gone?
I can still remember all the events of April 24, 2001 as if they happened just hours ago.

My baby is 5!
This is my favorite pose. She does this all the time. Sucks her thumb and puts her foot up to her mouth. Hilarious!

I can't believe it.
My baby is 5 years old today.
I never expected to have a little girl. My pregnancy with her was a complete surprise. COMPLETE. SURPRISE.
I was never very excited about having a girl. But when I saw her. When I saw her dark brown hair. Her red lips. Heard her cry. And held her in my arms.
Oh man, I was in love.
That girl stole my heart. The nurse brought her to me with a red bow in her hair, I thought I would die from sheer love for that girl.
She would cry when we held her and stop crying as soon as we laid her down.
When she was just 1 year old, her pediatrician told me to "get a handle on her". I didn't know what he was talking about. But he knew what he was talking about. I should have listened.
This girl has a mind of her very own. And a will that is stronger than steel.
But I love every ounce of her. Every act of sheer defiance, every smile, every kiss, every "I love you mom" from the backseat of the van. They make me love her more and more every day.
Happy Birthday Anna! I am so glad you are a member of our family. So glad that God surprised us with you. Our lives would not have been complete without you!
