Daniel vs The Chair

This is what happened yesterday!

Daniel fell off of a chair in the dining room and broke his arm. We quickly drove to Little Rock to have it looked at.

He ended up breaking both bones in his forearm and needing a procedure done to set it. They put him to sleep and made the bone straight again.

He's now wearing a cast up to his underarm. He's been such a trooper though!
I'm so proud of him and his attitude the past 24 hours. Now we'll see how it goes for the next 4-6 weeks!

Vacation Days 1 and 2

Still no pictures.

Hush up Abby!

But I will begin to tell you about our vacation.

We left bright and early on a Monday morning, drove to Florida ate dinner with our friends who were vacationing there, played in the sand a bit and then went to sleep!

We left not so bright and early Tuesday morning. Our drive would be shorter so we didn't have to leave as early as the day before. We drove and drove. And then we saw Walt Disney World!

You should have seen our faces. (and if I had pictures you could!) We were excited, and relieved that our time in the van had come to an end! Hallelujah!!!

We checked in to our hotel that seemed to be bustling with Disney excitement. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We got to our rooms and the towels had been made to form Mickey ears. So cute!

We then went to Downtown Disney to eat supper and do a little browsing. That place is great. Like Branson Landing on Mickey steroids! This is where Daniel asked me, "Do you know where I put my camera?" I told him I did not. The rest of that story is to follow.

We headed back to the hotel and a swim. The kids decided they wanted to swim in the baseball pool (shaped like a baseball diamond, but also like a square! some of the magic wore off after the traveling.) They made a friend from Nebraska.

Finally we went to the room, and went to sleep. I was ready for the next morning. Epcot here we come!!!!

Happy 9th Birthday Daniel!!

Can you believe it? You are 9 years old!

When you went to bed last night, you said "eight was great, but nine is fine!" I think you are going to love being nine.

You are still so funny. You love to play jokes on people and see them laugh. I enjoy watching you plan how to make people laugh. But telling people I'm 80 isn't really funny. HA!

Third grade has been good for you. You've done well in all of your subjects. I'm proud of you!

You still enjoy cuddling up with me. I know it will soon pass, so I try to enjoy every moment. You like to help me around the house. Thanks for being so ready to help.

I'm glad God chose me to be your mom. I love you!!! Happpy Birthday Daniel!

Its great to be eight!

picture from summer of 2007
I can't believe that David and Daniel are 8 years old today.

I know all mothers say that. But really. Where has the time gone?

I can still remember all the events of April 24, 2001 as if they happened just hours ago.

But I promise not to go over them with you now. Just suffice it to say that Dillards does not sell socks anywhere near where they sell shoes. So if you are a pregnant woman on your way to the hospital to deliver your twin babies. And you need a pair of socks, because the thought of no socks in the hospital makes you cringe, and because you didn't know you were going to the hospital when you left home for your doctors appointment. Then don't park by the shoe department thinking that the socks would be nearby. You know, thinking that socks and shoes naturally go together. Because Dillards sells socks on the direct opposite side of the store from the shoes. And you might think that you feel fine and being dilated to a 4 (sorry guys!) isn't a big deal. Let me assure you that it is a big deal. You WILL BE out of breath and barely able to make it out of the store. Much less able to drive yourself to the hospital and walk the mile from the parking garage to the OB floor. So, remember that socks and shoes are not sold together!(Note to Dillards: could you maybe sell SOME socks in the shoe department?)

I can remember how my mom sounded on the phone when she realized she wasn't going to be with me for the birth of the twins.

I can remember how they sounded when they cried for the first time. They sounded like kittens, it was so sweet.

I can remember holding them both for the first time. And thinking that two babies at one time had to be the greatest gift God could ever give a person.

I also remember wondering how in the world we were going to tell these boys apart. They looked just alike!

That day brought chaos, excitement, joy, peace, and contentment. It was a wonderful day. And I'm glad that I get to celebrate all of that again today.

Happy Birthday David!
Happy Birthday Daniel!
I am so glad to be your mom!
